Pros

A relaxed and friendly work environment. Competitive pay, good hours, and a good location. Frequent free food and drinks. My software projects have been varied in language and use, so I'm definitely not bored with the work.

Cons

Benefits are a little lacking due to being a small company, and management is overloaded. Half of all employees being remote can make it difficult to work with them, as conferences have to be scheduled. The size of the company also impacts development: many tasks like documentation, good requirements, and project plans aren't available, making development a little hectic.

Pros

When stacked up against bigger corporations, where you are more number than name, this is a swell place to work. Managers trust employees to produce without hovering over your shoulder at all times. Leave policies and benefits are generous and pay is as expected for positions of equal responsibility in the area. If you show up to do your job and don't spend half the day on Facebook or shopping, you'll do fine. Flexible schedules and ability to work from home. Monthly birthday lunches allow employees to socialize on company time. Open Bar most every Friday allows everyone to wind down together. Plenty of opportunities to grow your skills beyond your position.

Cons

As a small business, there is an expectation to fill in as needed. If you are uncomfortable wearing more than one hat or in producing quality work while multitasking, you will not fit in. Do not expect to have your hand held through every step of every day; they rely on individuals to be self-motivated rather than micromanaged. Hard to leave an anonymous review on Glassdoor; because it's a small company, it's easy to see when one disgruntled former employee leaves multiple reviews in an effort to skew ratings.
