Pros

Usually there is much overtime available. If you are willing to put in the time, you can make a good amount of money, relative to the cost of living in the area. Do your job, and they'll treat you pretty well. Doubletime on Sundays.(when available) 401k, with 50% company match up to six percent of your base pay. Steel toed shoes allowance. Prescription safety glasses paid for by the company. Flex time allowed for qualifying life events. Vacation can be taken in one hour increments. Company paid short-term disability and life insurance.(one year's salary) Long term disability available. For every 1040 hours you work(without missing any work), you earn a perfect attendance award, which is a day off without pay, to be taken any time you want. Unionized.(UAW) Dues are the equivalent of 2.5 hours of your pay. The company generally treats its employees pretty well.

Cons

Depending on your job classification, you may get mandated to work overtime. Employees are sometimes mandated to work 12 hour days and/or weekends. It can get very hot inside the plant. Depending on the job, you may get very dirty. The union spends some of your dues money on politicians.
