Pros

The largest composite of success best practices in the world. That alone will benefit any employee who works for Dale Carnegie. The business is franchised so you'll see different management in different geographic territories. While the idea is to Manage by the management training, sell by the sales training, and live by the Dale Carnegie Course, and present by the Presentations course, there is still differences and personalities to the leadership. There is a big upside to make a great income. The company and job has a lot of prestige so if you looking for a place where you can show your skills you'll be warmly welcomed by the organization and your clients. It helps to be able to perform well on your feet and to demonstrate great selling skills (caring about others essentially) to be successful. There is a lot of room for a person to make a life-long career. The product offering is HUGE from the traditional public offering (great competitive advantage by the way), the customized corporate solutions (training and consulting), Assessments and profiling, and a large cutting-edge Live On-line offering (Dale Carnegie Digital). You have a great deal of freedom at designing projects that help clients make the changes and gain the growth they want in their industry.

Cons

Evening work (1 - 2 days a week) is an expectation. Pay is not great when you are starting and not very good. Have some stability in your family situation until you get your book of business established. That is just how it is and I've never seen anyone short-cut that and still succeed. Be prepared to be a self-starter if you want to make it, the culture is a self-reliant culture, though very supportive of you learning and growing and making mistakes. Not for someone that wants a traditional 9 - 5 type career. Because its not for the average person, turnover can be high. You can't adequately prepare for this career from traditional school or from past experience, although being able to sell is an advantage.
