Pros

I use to have a whole page of pros about working for the DTCC. For the past decade I had very little negative to say. Today I have nothing good to say. Pay is nothing special Vacation time is same as the industry Benifits are awful in my opinion HR does not help with anything. They do not care about people having careers and likeing where they work.

Cons

I use to feel like I had a career and that I was working to make DTCC a great company. I no longer feel this way. I have decades of knowlege yet our managment is so poor that they don't even know what I do. I get on my 1:1 just to listen to my manager go on and on about themselves. Every few months we have org changes that are promoted as small and will not effect things. That is so far from the truth. When you keep moving people around like chess pieces because MD's leave and never take the time to think of how each individual feels people just stop being motivated. You have to make people feel like they are important. What happend to empathy and acually caring about the worker ants who are keeping things running so the MD's can go to dinner and talk about how they can make changes again. I have to mention the mandatory office days. We come to office to all sit at our desks and jump on zoom calls all day. Nothing positive is spoken in the office only people complaining about how much things have changed. To be honest I use to work 10 hour days when we could WFH and I was not unhappy about it at all. These days I watch the clock for when I can leave the office to get away from negativity all day. I can say my productivity has gone down significantly. Not because I do not want to work or be productive, it is because it is so hard to be in an office that feels like a prison.

Pros

Internal Audit's work is meaningful and provides strong exposure across risk, technology and operations. Audits tend to focus on areas that truly matter from a regulatory and risk perspective, so you're not just checking boxes. There is a genuinely strong team culture. Colleagues are competent, collaborative, and willing to help, with a good mix of experience levels that make it a solid environment for learning. There is also clear investment in employee development. Managers often have regular career discussions, and there are ongoing efforts around training, including newer areas like AI tools and capabilities. Recognition is present, and people are generally acknowledged for strong performance. Overall, it's a strong place to build audit fundamentals, gain exposure to innovation initiatives, and develop credibility within financial services / internal audit.

Cons

Internal Audit's workload is consistently high, not just during peak periods. It's common to juggle multiple audits with overlapping deadlines, alongside continuous monitoring and other responsibilities, which can make it difficult at times. Processes can be very documentation heavy and sometimes feel rigid, which is expected in a highly regulated environment but can reduce efficiency. A significant amount of time can go into formatting, reviewing and aligning work papers to methodology. Some workflows remain manual, which adds to the overall pressure and limit efficiency.
