Pros

You get to meet & work with some great technicians

Cons

1. Horrendous upper management decisions 2. Made to fire people for almost no reasons 3. You can get fired for making the most menial mistake (Like me) 4. Pay should be more competitive for all employees 5. Upper management needs more training to teach them how to act like human beings, not robots. 6. You can have MANY years with the company and still have 0% job security (Facts) I have heard this through MANY techs and I lived it. I still hear it now and I’ve been fired over a year for a simple mistake. 7. If you don’t sell sell sell, you won’t be there very long 8. Worn out trucks & vans, extremely hard to work out of 9. Almost no raises every year, I personally went 5 years without an increase, but my responsibilities increased over & over & over. 10. 1 simple mistake can end your career (just 1, facts) 11. You’ll work most holidays (facts) 12. Free damage repair, courtesy of all Field managers No matter what. 13. Meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting 14. Conference call after conference call after conference call after conference call after conference call 15. Endless & non stop Meetings & conference calls ESPECIALLY if you’re off. (Facts) 16. Berated constantly (Facts) 17. You’re ALWAYS on a progression plan of some kind (Facts) 18. Your job will be threatened non stop, you WILL be told “don’t make any major purchases if you’re smart” 19. Work on your days off because you’ll have a company phone that never stops ringing and if you want to help your team succeed and you not get fired, you’ll answer it 20. Techs never move up in levels, (Facts/Facts/facts) 21. Don’t even think of getting sick and call off (Facts) 22. You’ll count your technicians equipment over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. 23. If you have a family, leave them before you start your job, because you won’t see them again for a very long time they don’t shut the calendars down and you will pick up work sometimes 50 to 70 miles away from your last job at 5 o’clock PM (Facts) 24. You will have additional work thrown on top of work you are trying to complete already, example: You’re back at the office doing your QA’s and writing progression plans (normal) and you’ll be told to count all your vans while now doing a cookout for the techs..... Sounds good right? A cookout? Lmao, you’ll cook for 2 hours and then have to count all the vans and the techs won’t even eat the food because they are helping you count the van because they want to go home, oh and you won’t have time to do your one on one with that tech because it’ll be 10 pm before the techs leaves and they have to be at work the next morning at 7 am and they normally live 50 or 60 miles away from the office. That is all 100% true. 25. Unless you plan on working between 60 & 80 hours a week and some of them hours won’t even be on the clock because you have to be careful with your points per hour or else you’ll be fired. 26. I am horrified how I had to treat my “Team” or else..... 27. Non stop & I mean non stop van servicing (not joking) 3-5 vans a day almost every day needing serviced and Dish wanted the managers to do it because it’s less costly to them because managers are paid salary and believe me, they get their money out of managers. The average manager makes about $8 an hour at Disb when all weekly hours are divided into their weekly pay. (Facts) we did the math many times. 28. New upper management brought in to “Change” things Which is more like “Change faces” because that is exactly what they did no matter how long you were there or what reason they needed to get rid of you. 29. HR will give you the “Book Help” you need, they will NOT sit down and help you. I have been through that 1000 times with them. It’s really sad because a TON of time is wasted looking for something they could’ve very easily helped you with. (Facts) 30. Do I really need more reasons?

Pros

Work from home is the only pro I can think of

Cons

They don’t provide any equipment aside from the computer itself. They mislead you during the interview and job description. You are paid according to price of product sold and close rate however it’s all inbound calls and you can not call back. The inbound calls are lousy, people who don’t even have a $1 on a card in order to do the eligibility check, or no card at all.. poor credit which leads to higher out of pocket costs. I think only a handful of times I couldn’t overcome the spousal objection or the just shopping objection. Those I will take responsibility for but if I’m getting calls from people who don’t have a card or don’t have a $ or don’t have the money to put down OR already have an account or is a mis-transfer or were passed along because the technicians have to make referrals even though the customer isn’t actually interested in the product yet the tech makes them still call.. that’s crap and it’s not real sales.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective with us. Hearing about your day-to-day reality in sales—from lead quality to equipment needs—is incredibly valuable as we continuously work to refine our internal processes and onboarding experience. While we are glad you enjoyed the flexibility of working from home, it is disheartening to learn that you felt misled by our initial job description and interview process. We want to ensure our teams feel properly supported and equipped to succeed in their roles. Our People Operations team would welcome the opportunity to dive deeper into your feedback regarding our commission structures and lead generation systems. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at peopleoperations@dish.com so we can better understand your specific situation. Thank you again for your candor in this situation.
