Pros
They will go out of their way for you to learn and grow both into your position and the company while you're there. They allow for inter-departmental interaction. Engineering meetings are actually useful.
Cons
They complain that their co-ops leave. But they only consider bachelor holders from University of Waterloo. If I had known this I would have gone elsewhere. The metallurgical lab is fast paced and entertaining work. Sadly others' objectification kills your desire to be there. After 3 consecutive co-op terms, and then with credentials and work experience, I had an interview during which I was repeatedly insulted by the lab's manager. It was nice while it lasted but I'm glad I'm not there.
