Pros

While the company has strong ambitions and a fast-paced environment, the lack of structural support, alignment, and open feedback culture ultimately made the role extremely challenging to navigate effectively.

Cons

One of the most challenging aspects of the role was the company’s approach to feedback and internal culture. Providing honest, constructive feedback to team members often felt discouraged if it risked being perceived as misaligned with the company’s cultural expectations. This created an environment where performance management became constrained, limiting the ability to genuinely support and develop team members. Additionally, there was a noticeable lack of support from upper management. Expectations around performance and results increased consistently week over week; however, these demands were not matched with the necessary tools, staffing, or operational resources. This imbalance placed significant strain on teams and leaders alike, making it difficult to sustain quality outcomes. Another critical issue was the disconnect between functional areas. Communication gaps and misalignment across departments frequently led to inefficiencies, delays, and a suboptimal customer experience. Instead of enabling collaboration, processes often felt fragmented, directly impacting team performance and morale.

Pros

I’ve had a really positive experience working at CookUnity. The culture is one of the strongest parts of the company — it’s collaborative, open, and genuinely supportive. People here care about doing great work, but they also care about each other. Leadership is approachable and open to feedback. There’s a real willingness to listen and adjust, which makes you feel heard and valued. I’ve felt supported both professionally and personally, and there’s a strong sense that we’re all working toward something meaningful together. It’s a fast-paced environment, but in a good way — there’s energy, ownership, and a lot of opportunity to make an impact. If you enjoy collaboration, transparency, and being part of a team that’s building something ambitious, this is a great place to be.

Cons

Things evolve quickly as the company scales, so you need to be comfortable with change. That said, it creates a lot of opportunity to have impact.
