Pros

- The majority of people who work at CGS are good people. - Good learning experience for a recent grad, or someone new to call centers. I am writing this review so that anyone thinking about joining CGS can have an honest, clear idea of what they are getting into. I am a current employee in the Tampa call center. I have been with the company for over 2 years. As I stated above, if you are a recent college grad, looking for experience, it’s not a bad first job. Depending on the queue you work in, there is opportunity to learn, and possibly move up, if you show interest and initiative. Unfortunately, that's pretty much where the "pros" end....

Cons

- Low Pay - Horrible Benefits - Morale at an all-time low - HIGH Turnover Rate - Clueless Upper Management (For the most part...but there are a few exceptions) Let’s be honest, the pay is low. Depending on where you work, you are looking in the range of $10.00 - $11.00 per hour. You do get reviews every 6 months, but absolutely NO RAISE….EVER. There has been a pay freeze at CGS for the past 6 years. Yup, you read it right…6 YEARS! They have recently implemented a “pay-for-performance” plan to try to improve moral, but it’s really not enough. Due to a punitive attendance/write-up system, you can be easily disqualified from the program for the month/quarter. There are some very bright people that work at CGS, but they tend not to stay long. Why? Simple answer….Pay and Benefits. Upper management will have you believe it is due to the “Team Leads/Supervisors not motivating their direct reports enough”…. Really? When I interviewed for CGS, I was told that benefits were "available" after 90 days. I came to find out they are, but are paid by the employee. The health insurance package, for the amount it costs, is terrible. Due to the cost of the plan, most employees can’t afford it to begin with. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the point. In a nutshell, if you need a job as a placeholder until you find a better opportunity, this is it. As it stands now, CGS Tampa is a depressing place to work.

No pros working for this company

Cons

- Mandatory unpaid holidays (unless you have PTO available to cover them). - Pay is $16/hr, and increases only seem to happen when the state raises minimum wage. - Internal IT couldn’t fix broken taskbars for 8 months. - They reward employees with occasional pizza days and “National Apple Day” events instead of actual raises. - You have to wait for approval to take breaks/lunch, and there are days when you end up skipping breaks because of call volume. - No real growth opportunities: you’re basically stuck in an L1 role unless you leave the company. - Training lasts 5 weeks where you go through Dell powerpoints for about 2 weeks before “real training”. When we started taking calls, we didn’t know how to do about 80% of the work. - Health benefits only kick in after 90 days. - High turnover rate: my training wave started with 15 people, and we were down to 3 before I left. The same thing happened in other training waves as well. They seem willing to lose money hiring and retraining people instead of giving raises or investing in employee retention. - Some L2s are unprofessional, aggressive, and defensive. Conclusion: Please avoid this company at all costs.
