Pros

Work life balance is great, relative to the industry. Highly favorable work to compensation ratio for seniors, less so for everyone else (see below). High level exposure to many different asset classes. Valuable industry insights before going to MBA. Location is remote, which is great if you're trying to raise a family in the suburbs.

Cons

Surface-level financial analysis. If I didn't get a MBA after my time here, I would be disappointed by my career prospects. The work here is interesting from the perspective of learning about different asset classes and geographies, but your technical skills and network will badly lag your peers in finance. Even other fund of funds give juniors more substantive and marketable work. Outdated tech and back-end systems means you spend more of your time doing tasks that you won't do in comparable firms or generally in finance. Below market compensation for juniors with opaque process for annual increases in compensation and promotions . Location is remote, even for Connecticut jobs. Expect to commute half an hour from Stamford, which is the nearest big town. For juniors, this will 100% impact your ability to meet your friends in the city or network for jobs and new opportunities. Highly political working environment. For a place that has a feel good image associated with non-profits and endowments, the level of politics here would make you think you're working in a bigshot NYC shop. When the past generation of senior managers left, culture changed for the worse as the new managers have no interest in their juniors' professional development or even the original non-profit focused mission.
