Pros

I’ve worked at a few companies over the years, and the culture at Checkr stands out. The people here are genuinely some of the best I’ve worked with. Smart, collaborative, and just good humans. Leadership is approachable at every level, which makes a big difference day to day. You don’t feel like you’re shouting into the void. Ideas are heard, and there’s real openness to trying new things. There’s also a strong investment in growth, especially around AI. It’s not just a hype here, I really feel like I’m being empowered for change by this company. You’re actually given tools and encouraged to use them, experiment, and get better. That mindset carries across the company. The events and employee experiences are top tier. Sales Club was easily one of the best company events I’ve ever been part of, and even smaller on-site events feel intentional and well thought out, not just thrown together. Work-life balance is real here. People work hard, but there’s a respect for life outside of work that you can feel. It’s a place where you can do meaningful work without burning out. Benefits overall are strong, and there’s a lot of effort put into creating connection across teams, whether you’re remote or in person. On top of that, the day-to-day perks are great. Food onsite is a huge plus, and the San Francisco location is prime. It makes being in the office feel like a great place to be, not something you’re trying to avoid.

Cons

There’s no 401k match currently, which is something I’d love to see improved. That said, the overall benefits package and culture do a lot to make up for it.

Pros

Unlike many places where AI is just a buzzword, Checkr is deeply investing in real applications that solve complex problems. We aren’t just talking about it; we’re shipping it. The commitment to AI enablement is tangible. We have access to the latest tools like Cursor and Bugbot, which significantly streamlines our workflows and keeps the focus on creative problem-solving rather than boilerplate. If you enjoy "hard" problems, this is the place. Dealing with data at scale here provides a level of complexity that keeps you sharp and constantly learning. The culture is easily one of the best I’ve experienced. You’re working with incredibly smart, grounded individuals who genuinely care about the mission and each other.

Cons

Like any company that has scaled rapidly over several years, we have our fair share of tech legacy. It can be a hurdle when trying to move at lightning speed. While the new leadership is focusing in cleaning up the architecture through targeted engineering investments, we aren't out of the woods yet. It requires patience and a "builder" mindset to help pave the new path.
