Pros

Possible career advancement Decent pay Great way to meet individuals in the community the branch is located in Good support from back office

Cons

The cons are numerous, and intensely displeasing. The first piece of advice to anyone looking at this position is to make sure that the branch you are being hired into is in an affluent immediate area, with a good surrounding region. The experience of Chase bankers will vary wildly depending on the branch you are hired at. Plus, if you do well and buddy up with the right people, you will be able to move up in a good district. The feeling of intense sales pressure really brings you down. It is possible you will have a manager who listens to everything you say and do. And micromanages the heck out of you. Truth in lending is an optional practice. There are plenty of circumstances where I spoke with a customer who either took a loan or credit card out and had virtually no idea what they had just done. You will have to leave ethics at the door. Upper management is disconnected and rarely has any productive ideas. You must stick to the Chase script or risk being written up. Benefits are actually quite average. Insurance is relatively expensive. The burden with paid time off at Chase is I had to schedule all of my vacation AND personal days at the beginning of the year. You will recieve 40 hours of sick time. However, the new policy is that if you use sick time and miss a day (or half a day, or taking care of a sick dependent), you will be written up with "an occurrance." Seven of these "occurrances" and you're recommended for termination. That's right--you could be fired for getting sick seven half-days a year. Unless you are the manager's favorite person--then the manager could mysteriously forget to record your occurrance. The culture is one which breaking the Chase code of conduct is routine and encouraged, but if you fall out of favor with management, they will let you go due to your violations. Basically, just turn your brain off and follow the script, robot.
