Pros

Cargill has some very good people that are nice. You can expect to meet someone who has similar views to you at any plant. The company seems to be attempting to diverse itself, even though you can expect all Senior level management to be white males.

Cons

Managers will be hypercritical when you make a mistake and do not expect to be praised at all, ever, for anything. They treat injuries on the job as your fault, not the poor working environment that you work in. Very high disconnect from the people at the HQ to the people at the plant level. The majority of the managers I encountered judged you more on the time you spent at the plant than the time you spent working. Expect to work at 50 hours a week at a minimum even if you have nothing to work on with minimal benefit.

Pros

Pay is good, especially on holidays! you get days off during the week and you work every other weekend

Cons

The schedule is hard, 12 hour days for 1 month then 12 hour nights then switch back. the environment is tough, the work load is heavy. not always the support you need to help you. favoritism, Management can be difficult, sink or swim type of culture, The testing is nearly impossible to get through. In the end you can do a great job in learning the job, if they don't want you, you will be replaced!
