Pros
Great benefits, work environment is flexible. The people I worked with make the work less work-like. Opportunities for training and off-site seminars was reasonable (at least 1X a year). Mostly, I liked the people on my team, my manager and those with whom I worked. I always got appropriate support from all of them. A great place to start, and if you want to relocate every 3 years at less than median pay, a great place to stay.
Cons
IT was a myth - opening a PDF file generally took 4 mins since IT did not want to invest in faster processors. Senior management (my manager's manager and up) came from different Cargill businesses and generally took no time to learn this business. If we tried to tell them 'that idea was put in place last year and failed miserably, here's what we did with great success instead.....', we would be marked as "not a team player" and excluded from all future project meetings. Until the project failed, then we unpopular types were called in to clean up the mess and re-do the project, often times using the same template process we mentioned as an earlier success model.
