Pros

You will learn a LOT, because at Capstrat it's sink or swim. Be prepared to work hard, harder than you've ever worked before (just don't expect to be fairly compensated for it). If you're young, Capstrat is a great place to get some experience and build up your resume. The agency is well-known and well-respected in the RDU area and experience there can help land you that next, better gig.

Cons

Capstrat is known for paying the absolute rock-bottom-est salary in the biz. Don't expect to make much money unless you are very high on the totem pole. (This is one of the reasons why the average age of employees continues to go down. It's like a college campus over there these days.) At the same time, expectations are sky-high. "Push and be pushed" is a company mantra you'll hear, and it basically means you are never good enough, no matter how hard you try. Your self esteem will take a huge hit. It wasn't until I took a job at another company that I truly began to realize I DO have talent, and it IS appreciated.

Pros

Everyone here has a laser focus on the needs of the clients and is willing to put in the work to make sure expectations are exceeded. You get to meet and interact with people who are at the top of their game and they're always willing to speak with you and teach you things. From an intern perspective I was treated like a regular full-time employee which was refreshing; we didn't have to do demeaning tasks like get coffee/lunch or make copies, we were given work that our team members and clients valued. We had the opportunity to sit down with the president for a lunch and then the CEO for a dinner, that was extremely valuable; they really value the opinions of their interns. We also had meetings with the head of each department so we could get an understanding of how all the departments interact and work together. Finally at the end of the semester, the interns gave a presentation to the entire company, that was really cool and I liked how the company itself valued us as interns and treated us like a full-time member of the team.

Cons

Very fluid. I got the job and by the end of the semester I had seen about a dozen or so team members come and go. It may not be a con for some, but for me it made me uneasy. I think there is lack of opportunities to move up the ranks. It was the general consensus from all the interns that it can get very overwhelming at some times and the learning curve is steep, but everyone is very willing to help.
