Pros

Base salary with excellent commission structure Great benefits Meaningful work Excellent culture Fantastic leadership Flexible schedule Independent work Management open to feedback and make changes

Cons

None if you accept what the DM role is. You are on the road a lot visiting of businesses without being micromanaged. You are in charge of your time and how to schedule/maximize your travel.

Thank you so much for this. It genuinely means a lot to me to read your comments. Charlottetown is a wonderful community to be working in, and I'm glad the role is feeling rewarding this early on. You've captured what makes the District Manager role special so well. The autonomy, the direct connection with business owners, the flexibility are all things we're proud to offer, and it's great to hear they're landing the way we intend. I'm also really glad to hear the culture and leadership are hitting the mark. I was happy to have breakfast with all our new District Managers from across Atlantic Canada last week, in addition to spending a day working with one of them in Lunenburg. Seeing the organization through the fresh eyes of new colleagues always gives me a boost. Welcome to the team. We're lucky to have you. Dan Kelly President & CEO

Thanks for the positive review. No surprise, but I agree with you that we have a positive working environment and some incredible people working for the Federation. I just wrapped up 2 days hosting our new colleagues from across Canada in our national office in Toronto. It was great fun and left me very confident in the new crop of staff we are bringing in across the organization.

Pros

Work for a great cause

Cons

Pay structure is capped everywhere, you have to always be a top sales person or you will never get anywhere, the top or nothing to survive on, you will burn out

Thanks for the feedback. I’m pleased that you identified with our cause at CFIB. Small business owners have really struggled this past year and I have been so impressed with how our team has responded with advice and support. We’ve just completed Zoom meetings with our teams across most provinces, and staff are consistently reporting how proud they are to work for CFIB at this critical time. I’m sorry that it appears your pay expectations were not met. The District Manager job is not always an easy one and needs to be treated as a full-time role. While things were particularly challenging over the past year (due to the need to contact business owners virtually for several months), I am proud to report that nearly 15,000 small business owners made the decision to buy a paying membership during the pandemic. With the unprecedented awareness and interest in CFIB, this certainly helped us attract new members despite the challenging economic times. While serving our members is our main focus, our entire senior management team is committed to making CFIB a great place for staff to work and earn a good living. I believe we do a really solid job of that, but I am always looking for input from current (and former) staff along the way. Thanks for writing.
