What the company says publicly is very different from what they do with personnel. Raises are often less than inflation or nonexistent for longer term employees. There are yearly cullings (layoffs) whether there is lots of work or not. Anyone who is not in the top percentage is likely to be cut eventually. Older employees can become considered too expensive and let go, even if their work is good. I have seen this.
