Pros

Employee Insurance but at a cost

Cons

Where to start! The management in this area have no clinical experience and there for no idea how the therapeutic process works for both the client and therapist. Diaries are micro managed to within an inch of your life. No autonomy for practitioners over diaries, you can not change appointment times or dates for clients if life happens and they can not make it, you have to contact your manager to do this. Fees for clients: if they miss sessions the fee for doing so is ridiculously high, a full session at £75 and if a client does miss a session you are asked to provide ‘evidence’ of why they shouldn’t be charged. You are not able to give handouts or tools out to clients unless ‘verified’ by BUPA who have none verified that you can give out. Meaning that every time you want to send information or a handout you have to have it verified by a BUPA manager first. No flexibility or acknowledgment of life outside of work you are expected to sit at your desk from 9-5pm even when remote working. If you have to ‘nip’ to the doctors or to pick a sick child up from school they check the time is given back. Management call without warning or putting it in your diary- presumably to check your at your desk! Staff turn over is huge, I had seven people leave in the 5mths I was there. I have never worked in a service that has such a toxic under current to it. I was in my last job for 5yrs and prior to that I was in another service for 7yrs. I couldn’t get out of BUPA quick enough.

Pros

Company was very generous with benefits and perks. Nice office location; a bit far south, but once you arrived, it was nice.

Cons

Changing leadership strategies have caused massive brain drain and offshoring.
