Pros

-Great mission - huge impact for relatively small org -Dedicated, hardworking, intelligent colleagues -Flexible, remote work -Salaries seemed fair. An equity review of salaries across the organization was conducted a few years ago.

Cons

-Certain teams very understaffed -Hire/fire culture with high staff turnover at global headquarters. Recruitment process is poor as no staff have no formal recruitment training and there is no HR dept. People are quickly let go if they are felt not to be the right fit. -I can understand the negative feedback already here in other reviews (company culture, CEO, moving goalposts, unclear strategy, lack of trust, and resistance to change). I think it's a fallout of the constant panic to fundraise and the consequences of poor hiring decisions in the past. -Some unexplained resistance to use basic, low-cost technology that would improve productivity -No accountability mechanism for CEO. No HR and Board was very distant/unengaged. -No healthcare for spouse/partner. No compensation offered for cell phone/internet, even though the work is fully remote.

Pros

I've been at Build Change for over 5 years, and still count myself lucky to work here: - The work is mission driven and Build Change really does what it says it does. - I feel 100% supported by my coworkers and feel motivated by their passion for what they do - I have a lot of agency over what projects I choose to work on and in shaping their outcomes - I have been given a lot of opportunities for progression and feel that my managers have always believed in my abilities (often more than I have myself!) - I respect and appreciate the vision and direction from senior leadership. They have always listened to me when I have come with ideas or concerns. - I like working for a small organisation that can quickly adapt and respond to changing needs. - My personal travel and life with a young family works well with the 100% remote role - I've had the opportunity to travel to places I never thought I'd see, and to see them through the eyes of local residents.

Cons

Budget for administrative support is understandably tight, so sometimes I end up helping out outside of my role, but it's not a big deal.
