Pros

The competitive landscape isn't fierce. This is the only reason why this company can still exist.

Cons

- Branch will DRAIN YOUR SOUL and once they're done with you they will toss you out. The recent covid layoff has left alot of existing employees feeling stressed and saddened by the departure of members of their teams. Instead of boosting morale, Branch held an All-Hands to let everyone left know that "everyone who remains are essential". This was upsetting to hear because not only was this disrespectful for folks who were laid off, there were high-performers who were let go in roles in which Branch proceeded to HIRE FOR within a month of the layoff. It's HORRIBLE they used this pandemic to their advantage. - Company first, EMPLOYEES LAST: Branch put their people last and generally all they care about is their company image. During the pandemic period, instead of empathizing with the situation and ensuring people are taken care of, repeatedly during all-hands, all that was drilled into our heads was our job was “to keep Branch alive" and everyone needs to "work even harder”. Basically also telling us that we had to “get over it” anytime someone feels stressed. The C-level leadership micromanages every aspect of the company and has no trust in their employees. Regardless of how hard people are working, it will NEVER be enough for this company. Leadership needs to understand you can build a culture of running fast and being lean by empowering your employees. NOT by treating them like a number and being passive aggressive about how hard everyone needs to work. - The WORST management team I've ever worked under. I’ve lost brain cells sitting in QBRs, All Hands, and any meeting with management. The reason why the leadership team is consistently bad is because Branch tends to hire folks who are okay with keeping their mouths shut and do what they are told. Do yourself a favor and RUN now to save your career. I rather be job searching during a pandemic than continue to contribute to a toxic and selfish culture.

We're incredibly sorry to hear your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to voice it. I understand that it is difficult when someone is let go, and might create feelings of animosity despite what was otherwise a good experience, but we value your input and take feedback seriously. We are disappointed that you felt that your experience was not valued. Saying goodbye to our team members was an incredibly difficult decision and one that happened because of the effects of COVID-19. This doesn't make it any easier. We strongly believed that if we are aggressive, early enough, that we stand a better chance to prepare for what economists believe will be one of the greatest economic downturns that the world has experienced. We’re living in an unprecedented time with things changing every day. For those affected, we’ve done everything we could to make sure they’re put in a position to quickly find new jobs and stay healthy during this crisis. I would say that while I admit we can do better, especially during these hard times, the past few years have seen a dramatic improvement in the number of resources we put on employee growth and support, from increasing development budgets to frequent manager and leadership trainings, to having ERGs, to many opportunities for employees who want to switch teams and try out new roles. The leadership encourages and emphasizes the importance of work life balance and overall mental health of employees. We strongly advocate for employees to take vacations and down time from work to enable them to sustain performance, productivity, creativity and prevent burnout. While the day-to-day team members are incredibly talented, hardworking, and supportive, the overall company culture suffers due to upper management.
