Pros

Flexible Work Models: I spent 6 years on Flex models at <100% capacity to help juggle things at home. (2 kids, 2 career household) Loved the ability to modulate up and down as needed. Remote Work Opportunities: I like the approach to purposeful co-location. Teams co-lo when it matters, but allow flex when it matters. We don't get together simply b/c it is Tuesday. We do it for the right reasons. Learning and Development: Incredible opportunities for professional growth through training and coaching programs. I love my personal coach. I am also mid-learning path on digital/data platform design, a topic I'm eager to learn more about. Impact on Society: As a for-profit company not every project will save the world, but they often save jobs, make employees' lives better, and bring better products to the world. We have a TON of social impact work as well and I'm proud of the investments we make in our global and local communities. Fast-Paced Problem-solving: I am not bored (which wasn't true at other fast-paced jobs in finance). I'm constantly tackling a new problem with clients and learning a ton. Collaborating with senior leaders in a fast-paced setting ensures rapid decision-making and impactful results.

Cons

Predictability - some weeks are nuts, some are lighter, it isn't a punch-in-punch-out job so some of that is to be expected but its a challenge none-the-less.

Pros

BCG has top tier benefits, really smart colleagues, good in-office perks, and has a great company reputation. This was a huge part of my experience and has made me go back forth about my decision to leave.

Cons

This is speaking as someone who is not on the consulting side. On my particular team, office politics were very strong with little to no opportunities for people outside of the inner circle to assimilate. More broadly, I feel like the salary trajectory was a little slow, there is a lack of location mobility and and promotions can be hard to come by. Even so, I have personally seen exceptions be made for certain people. More broadly, being located in North America can be difficult since new roles are being open in other regions which is making internal mobility next to impossible. If you have any dissatisfaction with your current team, title, or level - there's a real possibility that you will have to wait multiple years before being able to make meaningful shifts towards your long term career goals.
