Not a very pleasant workplace - Software Engineer Bitnami Employee Review

Pros

International distributed team. If you have just finished college, you get a good vision of how startups work nowadays.

Cons

There are very few opportunities to grow as a developer. Almost all of the team is composed by juniors without any previous experience so you get no guidance at all. Most of the tasks are really repetitive and there is no room for creativity. You are paid as an average junior developer in the city (which is very low) but they will be treated as senior since your first day (responsibilities included). There are five values that you will hear "ad infitum" since your very beginning but no one is going to respect them (the higher you rank is, the more you can forget about them). Managers in general (there are some exceptions) won't care about you or how you feel with your work, the only thing important to them is that the job is done right in time. There is quite a big difference in how employees are treated in SF and Seville offices.

Pros

You will learn more here than you have at any other company. I have seen this ring true for everyone from the executive team to the Ops team. You are encouraged to take things on that interest you, but also expected to own whatever projects you've taken on. With a combination of ownership and hard working mentalities that surround you each day, you will be pushed to be the best you can be. This place can change the course of your career for the better because everything that you touch becomes a key part of how the company prepares for the future and works with their clients. Even with the all the hard work going on, the founders have never lost sight of the importance of hiring caring people as well. Each person has a true respect for each other's work, and is there to encourage you during the fast pace days.

Cons

This isn't a place for people who want to sit back and relax. There isn't room for people who like to settle or don't enjoy change. Change is the norm at Bitnami since we are still evolving and growing each day, so it isn't advised to join if that is something that bothers you.
