      Pros

      BVM is committed to fully training their publishers and giving them ongoing support to help build the magazines they manage. It doesn't matter if you don't have experience...I've seen prior school teachers and stay-at-home moms work their businesses and make well over six figures a year. Median publisher age is 55 and many folks are attracted to the opportunity due to the flexibility in schedule and the focus on work/life balance. There is no cap to how much you can make with BVM if you're willing to put in the work.

      Cons

      We are independent contractors (1099) and this is a commission-only position. However, you'd be hard-pressed to find another job with as high a commission as what they pay. If you are not self-directed and able to hear a lot of 'no's', this will not be a good fit for you. If you are gritty, tenacious, and look at every no as an opportunity to get better and grow then you'll make it in BVM. There are multiple bonuses throughout the year you can take advantage of that is directly tied to performance.

      Pros

      Everyone - from publishers to designers and corporate office staff - is helpful and eager to see the whole team succeed. Other content coordinators are wonderful about sharing information that would be relevant to magazines outside of their area. Quarterly webinars also keep us abreast of what's new.

      Cons

      Some things within the software can occasionally be clunky; but IT listens to suggestions and always works to make improvements.
