Pros

- Sports and social activities - Work life balance is often good - rarely work late - Benefits are good (Healthcare, Gym scheme, Cycle scheme)

Cons

- Performance management is not adequate, little attention given to understanding employees career desires - Projects can be repetitive, with long time on single projects (12 months+) - For a consultancy in London, there is very little work in or near London - Transparency is highly limited, in business and service line decisions and for promotion - Promotion is tenure based and seemingly not meritocratic - European Business is booming, but UK isn't going anywhere

Thank you for your comments and we are sorry to hear you didn’t have the experience that we strive for with all our employees. Performance management is taken seriously at BearingPoint and a thorough process is completed to ensure every staff member is treated fairly; all employees have a dedicated Development Manager who has a role in understanding the goals and performance of our employees as well as individual career development goals. The promotion process is based on individual performance and not tenure, training is provided to all employees every year to fully explain the performance management and promotion process. As a Management Consultancy which has roots in Europe and a Global reach, BearingPoint works with clients in a wide range of industries and locations. In the UK, we work with many large organisations who are based in regions outside of London, as well as firms with offices in other countries, providing the project experience and travel that many consultants look for. Opportunities to work in the London region are available for our consultants, with many projects within a commutable distance. As with all companies, many strategic decisions are made at the senior management level. However, it is the responsibility of all senior leaders to communicate changes or updates with their teams. Our senior management endeavour to do this at all opportunities, either through smaller team meetings, or wider communication platforms such as our monthly All Hands meetings. The UK business has seen growth recently, most notably with the acquisition of supply chain specialists, LCP Consulting, in March 2017. Testament to our growth is our continued recruitment efforts, with the UK firm at close to full utilisation of our consultants.

Thank you for your review. You refer to a different company, namely BearingPoint Inc. Our company, BearingPoint headquartered in Europe, has been a separate legal entity and conducted a management buyout in 2009. Its development since then is very positive, see our Annual Report: https://www.bearingpoint.com/files/BearingPoint_Annual_Report_24.pdf

Pros

Good pay, good location, other employees are good to work with.

Cons

This organization is deeply mismanaged. The four U.S. partners are consistently at odds with one another and unable to collaborate, often dragging employees into their conflicts. The lead U.S. partner regularly makes inappropriate, sexist remarks, despite being a father to daughters, creating a hostile environment. Employees are encouraged to report issues to HR, but concerns are routinely dismissed, and no meaningful action is taken. Speaking up only puts a target on your back, several employees who voiced concerns were included in subsequent rounds of layoffs. The global leadership team is fully aware of the ongoing dysfunction, especially at the partner level, yet chooses to ignore it in favor of their own career advancement. This lack of accountability at every level makes for an incredibly toxic and demoralizing workplace.
