Pros

Most, if not everyone, at the company has his or her own office. TOWP, or PTO, is decent, but I know companies that work in a similar field as Cityworks that offer more. The work/life balance is great. The volunteer opportunities at the company are wonderful. One of the company's values is giving back to the community. It's great at supporting local communities. Occasionally you can receive tickets to go to an RSL, Jazz, or UofU game. Many people are nice here, just your average Joe's. Casual dress attire. I adore some of the people I work with in my department. Good, nice individuals.

Cons

Working at this company led me to experience severe anxiety and depression for a multitude of reasons. It's a family-run company, so almost every person who works here is a family member or goes to the same church as a family member. And family members do get special treatment. Shun one family member, you shun them all. So if you get hired from knowing someone, it is mainly because they are doing that family member a favor and not hiring you for your skills and knowledge. And forget about working on SALARY. No salary employees here besides executives and supervisors. Everyone else works on an hourly pay. One of my co-workers has worked here for 7 years, and she is still not a salary employee. Many people who work at the company do not have "fire in the belly," they are content with settling at the company. Not very ambitious. The politics at the company are ridiculous. I've witnessed higher up employees lie to cover their a**es and place the blame on me. Not cool. My work load varies. Sometimes I have enough to do, but most times I don't have anything to do. And even during those times I have spoken up to my supervisor to receive more work, and it hasn't happened. So if you can't stand down-time, DO NOT WORK HERE.. If you are someone who is looking for a mentor or a company that provides growth opportunities, this company is not for you. Stay far away. My supervisor never delivers bad news in person. It is always through an email after office hours. To me, that is poor form. Bad news or controversial news should always be delivered in person. The company is not interdepartmental in any way, which is frustrating. Once you are in a position in one department, they refuse to let you transition to another department. They are not fond of disruption. And in order to even talk to another person from another department, you must clear it with your supervisor. And the pay is awful. I am completely underpaid for my role in the company. The company boasts that it has been around for 26 years, yet it still hides under the "start-up, small company" facade. Instead of paying employees more, which they can absolutely afford, they spend money on season tickets to RSL and the Jazz. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy that perk of the company, but I would prefer for that money to be distributed to employees. If you are younger, your input is not important to the company. Seniority rules...always. Basically, I came to the company because they offered me promises, which I soon learned within the first week of working at the company that they were absolutely false promises. I'm an extremely hard and diligent worker. This company has been an awful environment for me. It is not a positive work environment, and while I adore some of my co-workers, it isn't worth it to stay too much longer.
