Pros

Not really much to say here

Cons

Axi Financial is undoubtedly the least functional and effective organisation I have ever worked in. The company is formed of different factions each operated by a different executive, frequently with conflicting priorities. They uniformly.demonstrate a lack of interest in their own product, and are genuinely unable to come up with unique or original ideas. All of their product development is based on derivation of ideas that their competitors have implemented. The workdays are bureaucratic, and usually very meeting heavy. 6-8 hours of meetings per day are not uncommon, many of them with a tiny number of active contributors and many passive observers. The engineering department is demoralized to the point that they have entirely given up on code quality. Good foundations that were set in place many years ago are being slowly but consistently eroded by years of neglect, and there is no appetite for improving this, it is an active decision to prioritize anything that can be considered a revenue stream over improving their own product. They are clearly aiming to sell this business as soon as they can, so I imagine that standards will continue to drop, and working hours will increase further. There are a few good staff, the principal engineer is very capable, but most of the good talent left long ago. Do not take a role here, the work is boring, the hours are long, and the management are deeply unpleasant.

Pros

The company has talented individuals, and there are opportunities to gain exposure to different projects and responsibilities. There's good work-life balance, allowing employees to maintain a healthy balance between their professional and personal commitments.

Cons

One of the biggest challenges is the high level of uncertainty within the organization. Priorities, processes, and structures frequently change, making it difficult to plan long-term or execute work efficiently. There have also been multiple internal changes and reorganizations, which can create confusion around roles, responsibilities, and strategic direction. Communication regarding these changes is not always clear or timely, leaving employees feeling disconnected from decision-making and unsure about future expectations. Additionally, there is micromanagement, which can limit autonomy and make it difficult for employees to feel trusted in their roles, especially during periods of ongoing change.
