Good for a paycheck, not much else - Customer Service Representative Avis Budget Group Employee Review

Pros

It gave me a paycheck. Coworkers and supervisors looked out for each other, as long as it had nothing to do with comission.

Cons

Management doesn't care about what you are doing unless a customer complains, at which point they will always take the customer's side. There is no backup from management. New hires rarely lasted more than a week and the location was understaffed as long as I worked there. This meant that vacations were rare, and management had to allow that vacation days be rolled over to the first part of the next year because we couldn't take our vacation time before the end of the year.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.
