Pros
I don’t usually write reviews, but after reading some recent negative ones, I felt compelled to share my experience. The culture here is genuinely outstanding. I’ve worked at many companies over the past 20 years, and this has been the most enjoyable and fulfilling experience by far. There is a lot of good I could say, but what stands out most is that the company does not tolerate toxic behavior or culture. At many organizations, people are let go solely for performance issues. Here, performance matters, but so does cultural fit. The company takes its values seriously. Respecting others, collaborating well, and producing high-quality work are non-negotiable. If someone does not align with those values, they will not last, and I view that as a strength. Recently, several customer experience employees were let go due to toxic behavior and ongoing drama. After seeing reviews from some of those individuals, I felt it was important to add perspective. This is a company that offers a great deal of freedom, trust, and responsibility. When that trust is taken advantage of, it is understandable that leadership steps in. Ultimately, if Aviron is not the right fit for someone, they are free to move on. Personally, I am grateful to work at a company that holds firm to its values and does not tolerate unnecessary drama or toxic behavior. Lastly, the company has won best place to work 2 years in a row for a reason.
Cons
This may be a con for some, but not for me. The company is very flat, with no purely people-manager roles. Everyone, including managers, is expected to execute. This can be challenging for those who prefer more structure or clearly defined layers of management. There is also a culture of treating each other like siblings. People joke, challenge each other, and speak candidly. For me, this makes work more enjoyable and engaging, but it may not be for everyone. If you need a very formal, highly filtered, or strictly corporate environment, this may not be the right fit. I personally appreciate the directness and authenticity, and I enjoy working in a place where you can laugh every day.
