Avid is a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck - Senior Manager Avid Technology Employee Review

Pros

Although some positions can be remote and some employees are fantastic, the STG buyout has created turmoil in which employees are not paid bonuses and layoffs are conducted in secret (search for Boston Business Journal article).

Cons

STG, despite having no media industry knowledge, has started to gut the company of longstanding employees, which is going to sink operations shortly. They are looking to sell the company in 3 to 5 years without concern for the company after that. Layoffs are ongoing and conducted in secrecy, bonuses are not paid or very small, and raises do not keep pace with inflation. Morale has dropped precipitously. Sadly, I see extreme turbulence in 2024, and the volume of changes in a short amount of time will prove to be irrecoverable as Avid is now committed to whatever strategy they are attempting to follow with penny-pinching and a forsaken skeleton staff that is going to be overworked with the reductions in force. I encourage all to just look at the satisfaction trend on here and you'll see the decline.

Pros

• Some coworkers try to support each other despite the environment • You quickly learn how to handle stress (whether you want to or not)

Cons

• Toxic and reactive management style • Constantly shifting expectations with little to no clear direction • Unrealistic workload with pressure to meet metrics that don’t reflect reality • Lack of accountability from leadership—issues are pushed down instead of addressed • Poor communication across the board, leading to confusion and wasted time • Employees are not supported • Burnout is common and ignored
