Pros

When I was an employee, I had full faith in the brilliance of my coworkers and team. The products are widely used, considered industry standard in the professional market, and the stability and integration is second to none. The salary and benefits were good for the market, and being in a position of being a highly skilled and respected person in my field, i felt a strong sense of job stability through the multiple rounds of yearly "transitions" the company made though the decade i was there.

Cons

Work Life balance is a joke. It should be called Work-Life, because that's all you will get. They keep reducing the staff, adding more responsibility to the employees. They send their field personnel out on the road for several weeks at a time, and then penalize them against their goals for taking due time off. The current management team has stagnated growth for their employees. If you fit a certain cog in the machine, you were actively blocked from moving. They made sweeping changes to the business without effectively communicating direction. They use corporate buzz-words to deliver meaningless speeches to their employees and customer base. It's like they watched "Mission Statement" by Weird Al and said "We need to communicate like THAT" Outsourced support is atrocious. All calls are routed to an answering service overseas. Enterprise sized clients have to wait for call-backs from experts, when they really should be talking to them from the first phone call. Almost everyone I had worked with, teamed up with, and trusted to help accomplish our goals has been laid off, forced out, or simply left because they did not see a path forward with Avid.

Pros

• Some coworkers try to support each other despite the environment • You quickly learn how to handle stress (whether you want to or not)

Cons

• Toxic and reactive management style • Constantly shifting expectations with little to no clear direction • Unrealistic workload with pressure to meet metrics that don’t reflect reality • Lack of accountability from leadership—issues are pushed down instead of addressed • Poor communication across the board, leading to confusion and wasted time • Employees are not supported • Burnout is common and ignored
