Pros
Some great minds and great people work here! Opportunity to find and meet (virtually) with Avanade employees from around the globe thanks to Avanade intranet and active Avanade communities. Good examples of global collaboration. Avanade's strength is definitely in its employees. Very hungry for technology and makes for a great environment if you are a fan of (Microsoft) technology.
Cons
Difficult to see the relationship with Microsoft other than Avanade is restricting itself to offering solutions based around Microsoft products. Avanade UK is far too bureaucratic for a company of its size (300 - 400 staff). Very much about the "bottom line" (influenced by numbers). Far too heavily influenced and linked in to Accenture - makes you wonder why they are separate companies. Very reliant on Accenture to bring work in. Not particularly competitive for the UK market. People not recognised for their skills > recognition based on politics and "ticking the right boxes". Consultants expected to work extra 20% extra to carry out expected activities and training in addition to project work. Severely slashed training budgets result in no opportunity for training with professional training organisations and providers. Little effort made to integrate consultants based outside of London. London office space not accommodating for consultants. Consultants often "body shopped" which results in them being on a project that does not match their skill set.
