Pros

Everyone at AtomicMachines is smart and hard-working. Most everyone I've worked with are very nice and friendly.

Cons

Some critical tech leaders in the engineering org have huge egos, and a tendency to dictate every aspects of technical decisions, They have driven away a large number senior engineers out of the company, making themselves even bigger "godfather" figures in the team overtime. If you decide to interview with this company, consider asking the tenure of each person interviewing you, and whether the role is for backfills or organic growth. It will offer you a good idea of talent retention of the company, and the prospect of your future here. Don't bother asking about work life balance if you are an engineer, because you will not have it here.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that turnover can sometimes be seen as a concern, but it's important to consider the context. For a 4-year-old startup, the average tenure of our team (2.25 years and counting) is actually higher than industry averages. The average tenure may seem short but that is likely because of the rapid growth from 0-100 employees in 4 years, most of which happened in the last 2 years. This tenure reflects both the rapid scaling of our team and our commitment to performance management. At Atomic Machines, we prioritize building a strong, high-performing company, which means we are continually refining our team to ensure we have the right people in place to drive success. While this can sometimes lead to turnover, it’s a natural part of growth and essential for maintaining a healthy, thriving company. We remain committed to supporting our employees' growth and fostering an environment where top talent can thrive.

Pros

First-principles thinking is the default — you'll be pushed to understand why, not just what Genuinely meritocratic; what you deliver matters more than tenure or title The problem sits at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and AI — it's technically as hard as it gets Surrounded by exceptionally high-caliber people every day; the talent bar is real The work matters — you're not optimizing a feed algorithm, you're building something with physical consequence

Cons

Ambiguity is real — no playbook, high tolerance required Expectations are high and the pace is demanding; not for everyone Still building the internal infrastructure needed to scale

Pros

They have many talented employees and have interesting projects to work on and solve on a daily basis.

Cons

The company operates very much like an early-stage startup — fast-moving, deadline-driven, and constantly under pressure. While speed can be energizing, the combination of aggressive timelines and tight deadlines often translates into extremely long work hours. Many of the project timelines felt unrealistic from the start, which created a cycle of urgency rather than sustainable execution. What concerned me most before I decided to leave was the pattern I observed within the engineering team. The engineers who were doing the majority of the heavy lifting gradually left, largely due to leadership’s tendency to overpromise, coupled with a lack of appreciation and recognition for the work being done. In addition, the company’s capital burn rate appeared concerning, adding another layer of uncertainty. While the company may ultimately succeed, from my perspective at the time, the risks seemed to outweigh the foundation in place.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad you found the work engaging and the team talented — that’s something we care deeply about. As a fast-growing company, we are continually trying to balance the intensity and urgency that comes with bringing a new disruptive technology into the world while also scaling into a more sustainable pace of execution. Like the many successful startups before us, it is hard to find that perfect equilibrium. We will continue to stretch to achieve more than we thought was possible. We are incredibly proud of and humbled by the contributions of our engineers and all Atomizers have been essential to our success to date and we are continuing to invest in how we better support, develop, and recognize our managers and our team. Creating a respectful and inclusive culture is a top priority for us. We will continue to foster an environment where ideas can be challenged constructively while maintaining trust and mutual respect. There is more work to do, including broadening our representation, and we are excited about the company and culture we have built so far. We appreciate your perspective and wish you the best in your next chapter.
