Pros

Helping save some animals lives

Cons

Staff and floor management is GROSSLY underpaid while all money get poured into marketing to make the organization look good on the outside Organization refuses to use their voice on social media to educate on breeds who need homes the most, like pit bulls. There is no behaviorist or any way to rehabilitate these animals. Next to impossible for staff to move up within the organization. This organization is so poorly run, all money goes towards looking good on the outside while on the inside it is falling apart. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE DO NOT WORK HERE. Animals are my biggest passion in life and I have been nothing but disappointed since working at the Atlanta Humane Society.

Pros

The very few times I was assigned to care for any particular critical patient; you have a chance to connect with them.

Cons

Encouraged not to take breaks, didn't get breaks most days, workload increased, management is very avoidant and likes playing favorites. There is no real HR Department, instead there are two people: manager and assistant manager of "Employee Success." No actual conflict resolution. You're worked beyond your breaking point. Don't expect regular, consistent feedback from supervisors and/or management. They will tell you all. Day. Long. that they care about the well-being and work-life balance of their employees, however there is little to no evidence to back these words up. In other terms, the organization will trick you to believe they care about you, but at the end of the day you are seen as disposable.
