Pros

Generally nice immediate working environments, things are relatively specific to your team, but I get flexible working, the opportunity to be involved in interesting projects, and as junior staff, still get the chance to manage projects, meet clients and deal with finances. Benefits are reasonable in the UK, with health insurance being standard, they are not as good as senior staff would have you believe and though you get a pool of flexible benefits to choose from, at junior levels you have no money allocated to afford any of the choices! In the UK you receive 5 weeks holiday after working for 3 years for the company.

Cons

The company is let down by bureaucracy and lack of transparency. Pay, promotion and career opportunities are managed at a distance by an unhelpful HR team. You are not allowed to negotiate on pay or regrading and can only await an annual letter in April to see if you have been anointed. The company is very London centric, with regional offices being kept at arms length, having minimal facilities and little interaction from discipline leads. Did I mention pay!

Pros

Great company with lots of good benefits, interesting large scale projects, and a fantastic team of people to work with.

Cons

Be prepared to work long hours, overnights and weekends at times. At the end of the day, it is a consulting firm so the clients needs will always come first over employee health and wellbeing.
