Pros

I honestly can't say how grateful I am to be a part of AppFolio. This is a company that exemplifies greatness. I've been with AppFolio 5 years. In that time I've seen a lot of changes. The company has grown, overcome and adapted to challenges, innovated, and built on its success year after year - all the while, keeping the employees and the customers in the forefront. During Covid, while the entire company is having to work from home, AppFolio has gone above and beyond to make the transition as seamless as possible, dedicated more resources to support employees' mental wellness and developed products and processes to allow employees and our customers to adapt to the situation. The founders of AppFolio, the leadership and my colleagues inspire me daily. I'm proud to work for such an amazing organization.

Cons

I don't know if there is a company out there that can be everything to everyone. That being said, the pros heavily outweigh the cons. So much so that there is nothing that I would like to call out here as a con.

Pros

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

Cons

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.
