Pros

During my time at AppFolio I enjoyed the culture, the kitchen (of course) and the mostly the people I worked with.

Cons

Where to start... I was in MCC. I worked crazy hours for a long time. I was there in the building completely alone during times when I definitely should not have been-wasn't safe, power outages, etc. I had impeccable numbers even for the odd hours. I was continuously jerked around in regards to a raise or a department transfer, just like most everyone else was. I will admit there were transfers to other departments but that was not common. You were always told why you couldn't transfer out or couldn't get a raise rather than being told how to achieve those things. So there is little growth in MCC. I definitely should have left earlier than I did but I had hopes that I would get what I was worth at some point. That had a lot to do with there being almost no transparency with management and the demeaning manner in which they "managed" the teams. It was borderline verbal abuse in most cases. The review from December 7th is the most accurate review I've read yet, by the way.

Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry to hear that your experience didn't match your expectations. Working in our Maintenance Contact Center team is a great entry level position and can grow into future opportunities at AppFolio. We provide lots of training and development for our employees to master the role and grow into new opportunities and we do have great examples of team members who did an excellent job, worked with leadership to develop new skills and earned promotions and growth into new roles - but you're right, not everyone grows into those opportunities. I've shared your feedback with the leaders of this team - we are always open to finding opportunities for future improvement.

Pros

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

Cons

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed our culture and team outings. We take your comments seriously – especially regarding the need for proactive management support, better coaching, and clearer advancement opportunities for our BDR and AE teams – and we are actively working to address these areas to ensure our reps feel supported and set up for long-term success. Thank you again for helping us improve, and we wish you the very best.
