Pros

First of all, all employees love the products! Ancestry is diligently seeking to improve the customer experience, the work culture, and our product offerings. Overall, my time at Ancestry was positive, and with the new CEO and focus on core values, there have been lots of great changes. Glassdoor feedback seems to have improved from 3.1 to 3.4 in the last 6 months, which is indicative of the forward momentum and sentiment by employees and former employees.

Cons

Like any mid to large organization moving fast, there are sometimes issues alignment of the whole organization working towards one purpose. Ancestry is working hard to address this with regular town halls with executive management and frank communications regarding issues.

Pros

Great company culture, supportive team, smooth onboarding process, strong career stability, and meaningful work. My interview experience was very positive, and the recruiting and onboarding teams were helpful, responsive, and professional throughout the process.

Cons

There is always a learning curve when joining a new company, especially while understanding internal systems and processes, but the team has been very supportive.

Pros

The work-life balance is pretty good. I have never had issues taking time off when I needed to. The pay and benefits are on par with other, similar jobs in the area. There are many long-time employees at the company.

Cons

The company is product-led, so leadership is more concerned with shipping new features than they are with making sure what they have already shipped works well. Restricted stock unit grants always come with a one year vesting cliff, whether an employee has worked at the company for two years or twenty years. They do not appear to trust that long-time employees will continue to stay at the company, even though they have many long-time employees.
