Pros

Benefits are solid, 401k Match is nice, Friends you make in this work will be friends for life.

Cons

1. Your job description may not accurately reflect what you do. Let me be more clear: you will be lied to. It is fairly common to work several roles for the price of one. 2. You will work 24/7, but be salaried. This is not an understatement. You will be severely underpaid. 3. You will struggle to be a parent, have relationships, be a friend, and do anything outside of work. You will be isolated. 4. The average CDPS turnover is 1 year. Note that I said average, not median. People do not want to work here long-term. 5. You will not have an HR. You will speak to a bot, because your HR is likely based in DC. 6. You will not be onboarded unless your manager chooses to break the cycle. 7. You will fail your clients again and again, as you meet the worst day of their life with the reality of brand vs. substance. 8. We are actually broke. 9. Completely understaffed, but I guess that's a given. 10. You will have no voice.

Pros

Flexible remote hours, supportive team that treats volunteers as contributors rather than interns, and a low-pressure environment

Cons

Tooling is limited compared to corporate environments — primarily Excel-driven, so you won't get exposure to modern BI stacks (Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake) unless you bring them in yourself. Data sources are inconsistent (legacy .xls files, manual exports requiring conversion), so expect clean-up work.
