Pros

Dedicated and genuinely involved co-workers Original intent of the mission statement is humanitarian Adequate parking Ability to travel Company car and credit card Good benefits Gratification of sitting across the conference table facing your sadistic manager during legal depositions after a whistleblower lawsuit? Priceless

Cons

Unsure as to how to even begin. I've never been asked to compromise my personal integrity so much in my entire life. Management wildly out of control. The amount of waste of both human resources and materials is profound. Illegal and unethical human resource practices. Managers and some employees work on a bonus program which lends itself to abuse and fraud. After coming from academia, it was the first time I'd ever experienced working for people who were unintelligent and personally I'd far work for someone ill natured and abusive. In this case it was both. I actually had a review which included, "Wear more mascara." Management once staged a fake fire alarm to gather employees in the parking lot for a group photo to place into a time capsule. (No one could make this stuff up.) FDA thankfully oversaw some of the shenanigans and as such Red Cross was constantly paying enormous fines which then in turn put more pressure on employees to deliver. Endless circle.

Pros

Flexible remote hours, supportive team that treats volunteers as contributors rather than interns, and a low-pressure environment

Cons

Tooling is limited compared to corporate environments — primarily Excel-driven, so you won't get exposure to modern BI stacks (Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake) unless you bring them in yourself. Data sources are inconsistent (legacy .xls files, manual exports requiring conversion), so expect clean-up work.
