Interesting Opportunity, but not sure I'd do it again - Cloud Consultant Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

-The pay is very, very competitive. -Remote work opportunities offer a means to balance work/life. -Travel/training reimbursements are paid out almost immediately. -Exposure to all sorts of tech/capabilities.

Cons

-You'll be expected to figure just about everything out on your own, from administrative process to training. -Outside of the onboarding process, there doesn't seem to be any sort of formal training or professional development/mentorship program. -Leadership is hyper focus on utilization and overall profitability. All my manager and I discuss is how to increase utilization (billable hours). -"The stock dropped $5...am I getting laid off next?" is tough to have hanging over your head.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
