Not the best - Frontend Engineer Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

Not a lot of pros ... They let you take as much time off as you want (within reason) Pay is really good, apart from the 5-15-40-40 vesting schedule They reimburse a lot of expenses - Public Transit, Phone Bill, equipment, etc Having Amazon/AWS on your resume is the biggest pro, in my opinion

Cons

- Re:Invent workload is very bad and poorly managed - WLB is non existent - especially during Q4 - Depending on your team, on call load is very stressful - Remote employees are not really taken care of that well. - They do not have any concept of DevOps ... If you're hired as a front end engineer, it means nothing. You are doing UI work, and also a lot of other things. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but is a negative for people who want to specialize in a specific area

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
