Pros
None. It is Canada's version of sweatshop labour. You will be treated very poorly.
Cons
1. Little totally unpaid training for medical transcriptionists by Team leads/supervisors. 2. Frequent computer problems on their end. If their system is down, you are not working. 3. Low pay, at or below minimum wage because you are paid by production and Team leads are so harsh with their feedback that often you are capped at transcribing 10 minutes of dictation per hour, which nets between $7.00-$10.50. 4. Different Team leads on the same account say contradictory things about how to format or spell something. Marked down on QA by one, not the other. Cost you your supposed bonus because they all mark you differently. There is no documentation to back anything up. 5. Unhelpful Team leads, some of whom are very rude. 6. Lack of standards when it comes to formats, spelling, etc. 7. Manuals provided are outdated. 8. .Accounts are so poorly managed, there either isn't any work at all, or they are pushing production down your throat, begging you to type more and more. 9. Long waits to get somebody from the helpdesk to resolve computer glitches. 10. Team leads don't always answer messages, calls, or emails. 11. Low pay scale leads you to work more than 8 hours per day to make ends meet. 12. Many tasks of the job are unpaid and very time consuming, yet expected. 13. Expected to perform your job in a very short period of time. 14. Reference reports are often incorrect. 15. The reports they take your QA bonus away for, the supposed mistakes, are never corrected and go on the patient's chart that way. 16. No benefits. 17. Continuous pay cuts. 18. Contracts don't mean anything to Accentus/Nuance. They continue to change the terms and expectations. It doesn't matter what you signed up for. They will break it. 19. It's all about producing more than humanly possible, quality means nothing to these people.
