Pros

The position I have in the office I work out of equates to very little oversight and very good autonomy to get the job done. There is a lot of trust and authority placed in technical employees. The opportunities to get exposed to AVI-SPL's client companies are tremendous.

Cons

The local office management has very little latitude over much of anything including hiring authority, compensation, bonuses, purchases even expense reimbursement. The corporate management is completely opaque and seems as though they are blindfolded behind the wheel. The single biggest issue is that compensation is not linked to performance in any meaningful way. Bonuses promised at hire date never come to fruition and corporate changes the rules twice a year. There are also a lot of obstructionist, difficult to work with "not my job" types working in the administrative positions all the way up the chain. Poor benefit choices and use-it or lose-it PTO policy.

Pros

Regionally dominant, opportunity for growth is there. Steady work, and management seems to let onsite techs do their best without micromanaging. The service team is top-notch if you ever need to lean on them.

Cons

Benefits. they need to address benefits to help retain top-end talent. PTO and vesting schedule is a little weak. LOTS of middle management in some areas. Health prems and 401k match are also not so great
