Pros

Great pay. Company continues to do well and expand which should mean job security and growth opportunities. If you’re lucky enough to work for a good leader that isn’t just out for themselves you might actually enjoy working there.

Cons

The culture in the Buying department is terrible. The assistants have an “us against them” feel when it comes to directors. Everyone is constantly on edge and stressed out and you feel it walking around there. A lot of “type A” personalities with the majority of folks just out for themselves. There is very little collaboration and teamwork in the department. They definitely tried to improve the collaboration but always seemed to fail. The department has gotten too big and focuses shift almost weekly. You’re constantly having to change shift, do double work and ultimately just do what your leader wants anyway. Nine times out of ten you feel like an overpaid assistant.

Pros

+ industry leading wages Associates - $12/hr, Shift Mgr - $16/hr, SMT - $23/hr, Store Manager - $75,000+/yr + great work environment + excellent training + health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k + 40-50 hr/wk with paid overtime Very fast paced so work hours fly by. I loved working at Aldi. The pay was great! Benefits great! Was training to be a store manager so a lot was expected of me but I was totally up for it. My store manager loved my work, associates loved my fairness, customers loved me.

Cons

+ work/life balance + walked 28,000 steps/day!!! Never thought I would be fired for clocking in only minutes late!!
