Pros

- Surrounded by hardworking people that mean well. Upper management are intelligent, but fairly cold. -Pay too much.

Cons

-I cannot even to explain how horrific my experience was. My store manager "trainer" wanted me to fail the moment I walked in and abused me profusely. -The larger issue here is that the store managers are treated like animals. The standards set, the numbers they are supposed to meet force them to cut the hourly workers far too early and just take the burden. They work for hours on end, most of them smoke, don't have time to take care of their own health let alone be there for their families. Upper management convince them that running a clean, perfect, no lines no wait store is the number one thing in life and it was so sad to see. Also, how demotivating would it be to work your butt off as a store manager just to know that you will (in all likelihood) NEVER get promoted to a district manager because they just give that job to recent college graduates. What kind of culture does that build of two different tracks and then to have the new district managers have to learn how to run a store in no time at all under the direction of someone who is pissed that they don't have that job. One of the biggest selling points for me of taking the job was because I believed in the concept of walking in the shoes of every employee you will manage. I went through the whole training process and realized how horrible aldi treats these people...running FAR TOO LEAN. Making one person take on the job of 3, maybe even 5 people just to increase their bottom line. I could not sleep at night knowing that the people I was managing were living like this. It's sad that a company can turn a blind eye to this type of situation.
