Pros

Can’t think of any. It all went downhill.

Cons

Tech management sucks. They’ve been laying people off in technology, yet continuing to hire for the same positions. There are so much bad tech debt, 1Password isn’t innovative at all. Look when it was founded. Almost 20 years ago. There are almost 20 years of tech debt here. Lots of bureaucracy and work environment is toxic to say the least.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. We’re sorry to hear that your experience in the tech organization at 1Password was not positive. We hope that before your exit you had an opportunity to raise the concerns you’ve shared here, and speak directly to Pedro or his leaders about tech stack and architecture. There are a lot of plans in flight to address tech debt this year, and we’re sorry that it impacted your time at 1Password. We acknowledge this is an issue, and are actively addressing this in our roadmap. We also hope that we can clear up any misconceptions about layoffs happening across the organization. While there have been recent exits, the majority of these these departures have been due to individual circumstances or changes within the org due to our growth. Pedro, his leaders, and our People team are available to listen and continue the conversation should you ever wish to. Please feel free to reach out directly. - The People Team

Pros

- Awesome founders when they were involved in the day-to-day - Great benefits

Cons

- Lost a lot of what made this place special during the scale up from 100-1000 employees - Hired a ton of outside leadership which ultimately resulted in a culture shift and many of the people who worked there the longest leaving

Pros

* Flexible working arrangements and quite a bit of autonomy. * A genuinely supportive manager and a collaborative, positive team environment. * Competitive pay for the role and responsibilities.

Cons

In recent years the company has shifted in a direction that feels very different from the organisation I originally joined. * There is a strong emphasis on a “high performance culture”, but there is limited structure or support in place to help employees develop the skills needed to meet those expectations. * Career progression and compensation increases can feel closely tied to visibility rather than the quality or impact of the work itself. * The company is moving away from its fully remote approach. In-person events that were once optional are now mandatory, even for teams that may not directly benefit from them. The locations chosen do not always appear to consider the needs or circumstances of a globally distributed workforce, and employees are now required to go through formal accommodation processes simply to avoid international travel due to health or safety concerns.
