Pros

-Fun to get to work with school leaders. -Many of the 8-5 employees are average and regular people you get along with, with the exception of the snobby Operations personnel.

Cons

-Leadership doesn't have a clue! Take the most privileged, Ivy League educated, and employee detached managers and let them manage 50 people. That's the EdTec model. -The Client Management group is the most hostile work environment out there. Don't let the happy hours full you! -The Client Management group fails to innovate. The intense competitive snobs that make up this group don't help.

Pros

- Company offers a good deal of flexibility, good benefits, decent pay, but work-life balance is negatively influenced by manual processes, rework, and technology limitations. - Currently have strong reputation in industry. - Open door to CEO

Cons

High turnover rate in several functions, which limits domain expertise, end up chalking it up to a bad hire rather than examining the reason for turnover and making changes - Training: lacking structure and context, need more training opps after on-boarding - Culture: pointing fingers when mistakes occur rather that finding root-cause, isolated functional communication, not great at best-practice sharing so constantly "reinventing the wheel", over-stretched in all functions and complacency with small mistakes, typically feel like you are out on an island on your own. - Work-life balance: weekends and late nights are not out of the ordinary, especially during submission deadlines - Leadership: missing the pulse of day-to-day activities so out of touch when it comes to vision and growth and org structure, communication suffers Be aware and ask good questions about culture during interview. Talk to management in addition to team.

Pros

-Headquarters are located in a great area in Emeryville with access to public transportation and convenient parking. -Pseudo start-up culture with multiple company sponsored events for employees. -Opportunity to work closely with charter schools.

Cons

-Back stabbing culture of passing blame onto other employees in front of senior leadership to further one's career with the company. -Elitist mentality in which degree prestige matters. -Company's expansion transitioning it's start-up culture into a more typical corporate feel. -Cliquey culture where newer employees feel isolated.
