Pros

- Remote work - Nice people - Minimal politics - The company tries to be generous with PTO

Cons

- Leadership that is immature and inexperienced with enterprise-scale project, and that is generally technically weaker than in other tech companies. - Limited scope, no career growth for developers beyond a certain level (senior and above). - Very average total compensation (no 401k match, no equity). - Huge amounts of tech debt. - High engineer turnover.

Cyber is hot, DomainTools is not.

Pros

A chance to make the internet a safer place. Working in the hot, cybersecurity industry. Work life balance is excellent for the C-levels who jet set in a few days per week.

Cons

It is apparent that leadership is in way over their heads. They are still running the company as if they were 20 instead of 100 employees and their immaturity really shows. Bullying and harassment by legacy employees is tolerated. New employees are never believed. The CEO and CFO expect unquestioning loyalty. If you disagree, you are marginalized. There are still some very smart people that work there, but many are leaving because they are disturbed by how those who have been bullied and harassed have been treated. Accusers are retaliated against. Company rules change on a whim to either support or punish who ever the C-suite wants. Leadership is blind to their problems and how to even begin to solve them.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to provide information about how you perceive the work environment at DomainTools. We value all of our current and former employees' feedback to help us improve as an organization. I want to make it clear that as a person I have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind, and that DomainTools as a company has zero tolerance as well. We believe we have responded promptly and appropriately any time someone has raised concerns of inappropriate conduct, but would agree this is an area all companies should be trying to continuously improve. We are committed to creating a transparent, collaborative and inclusive environment at DomainTools where every single employee is comfortable and can do their very best work. A Lot of Lost Opportunity Here

Pros

Our data helps our customers locate and block bad actors in their network. That's pretty cool when you consider who we're helping to protect. Free snacks, paid parking and a good location.

Cons

I've been here for a while now and watched C level's, directors, managers, and other great employees leave or disappear. Weeks or months later, we get company-wide emails that they no longer work here. Transparency appears to be a moving line in the sand but still one of our core values. Management positions go unfilled, and sr level management left appears to be coasting towards some inevitable end either intentionally or it just all got away from them. Out of only around 98 employees, CTO, Head of HR, VP of Product, SVP of sales, directors, managers, and employees in all departments all gone over the last six-nine months or so. Are the C levels in over their heads? Are we about to be sold?
