Where to start... Sales management and upper-level management are completely ineffective and it's apparent that they haven’t received any training. As an extreme example, I've heard management make blatant ageism and other similarly inappropriate comments. This division of ITW will eventually run into legal issues; it's not a matter of "if" but "when". Micromanagement is over the top and rivals some of the most infamous companies in the tech industry. Get ready to do reports about reports. I believe that upper-level management from ITW are way over their heads and desperately trying to sell Diagraph. Diagraph products are not keeping up with this competitive industry. New product releases (besides the CIJ printers manufactured by Linx) don't add new features and are more of a marketing update. Diagraph's prized high-resolution printers (including the newly released version) regularly fail in the field. When manufacturing of the high-res heads was moved to St Charles, design knowledge was lost. Diagraph can no longer consistently produce working high-resolution printheads. The capability of rebuilding printheads is supposed to be one of their advantages, but printhead production for rebuilds is 1 year behind. These issues along with an increasingly competitive market (with new but well-funded competitors) are a recipe for failure. Diagraph has tried its best to lean out for ITW, and it’s resulted in a cheap company. Sales reps are regularly told to buy their own tools required for the job. Expenses and schedules are micromanaged to the point that my sales manager questioned where I was getting gas. They also do not invest in the proper software tools. Sales reps have to prepare their own quotes and it’s done using Microsoft Word. There’s no oversight of inside sales. This results in support who only work when they feel like it. In my case, this meant very little work and low-quality work. The marketing department does very little in comparison to more successful companies. LinkedIn posts are the same material over and over and the website is rarely updated to improve SEO. The last time I checked, Diagraph doesn’t even show up in the first couple pages of Google results when searching for “marking and coding equipment”. Weak territories get less than 5 leads per year, so don’t look for any help if you take on one of these challenges. As icing on the cake, Diagraph has frequent layoffs and forced resignations. Layoffs seem to happen every 6 months max and affect all departments. I’ve seen multiple people with 25+ years of experience laid off with no notice. This is a good job to jump from if you want to get into packaging and/or low-cost capital equipment (or are just looking for a pay bump before the next job). Then again, there are a lot of jobs out there and they don’t get much worse than this. Just run instead if you’re considering a position here.

Travel can be weary due to lack of techs so you might find yourself living out your suitcase for a nice stretch of time.
