Lots of turnover and layoffs

Pros

I can't think of anything really

Cons

This is a very small company with a lot of turnover and recent layoffs. Almost every month a couple of people leave or are laid off. The company has been getting less and less projects, and MANY contracts have been canceled by customers to the point of company faltering. People are laid off witout notice. Bad management, no marketing strategy, incompetent people in critical positions, and perhaps bad economy are to blame. You will see kids who just got out of school with senior titles running around; arrogant and incompetent at the same time. Overtime is expected even though they don't ask you explicitly. As others mentioned, favoritism is a big issue. You will get to work on a good project only if you're part of the cool kids club.

Pros

Smaller company, challenging projects, learned a lot very quick, creativity and teamwork encouraged. Flexible schedule.

Cons

The number of projects can sometimes be overwhelming.

Pros

* Building neat, exciting things that haven't been done before for companies large and small * Upper management is open to funding internal projects that could improve efficiency or bring in new clients * In my experience, managers/team leads are open to change and don't micro-manage * Small company so you have some say in how things are run * Daily "walk time" where you can take a break from working and chat with coworkers * Free snacks in the break room, stocked every Monday and Wednesday

Cons

* From what I gathered during my internship, applicants aren't given very competitive offers so they tend to sign on with other companies. There's a lot of work to get done and not a lot of new people coming aboard, so some projects end up not getting the love they need.
