Pros

Catered lunches, some of the best engineering talent in the city

Cons

The founders are very immature and lack real experience. They think that flying around is life experience but have never owned a car. They do not have a plan or even know what kind of exit they want. The head of product (co-founder) is in way over her head. The founders have no idea of what they actually wants but spends their time looking for magic bullets to solve things with a wand. The founders are literally the embodiment of the Dunning–Kruger effect. Listen to the CEO then google phrases that he repeats: you'll find that they are really just the best sound bites from medium articles or hacker news.

Hey, First of all, I want to apologize for the experience you had at Cover. As you pointed out, we've worked hard to hire well and build out a supportive engineering culture that gives our colleagues an opportunity to grow and meaningfully contribute. You were a part of that culture, so I don't take your feedback lightly. I appreciate you taking on the task of helping us build out something that is non-trivial, knowing the path we've followed hasn't always been a straight line. As always, my door is open to direct feedback (karn at cover.com), and I hope you stay engaged with the team and our alum. All the best, Karn

Pros

Really great people to work with, decent work/life balance, decent benefits

Cons

Was told there was sufficient funds for 1+ years but then they laid off a huge chunk of the company with no warning / communication. Growth is preached but not really followed up on, significant miscommunication / inefficiencies between different teams.

Pros

- There ARE good people here - lunch was great - LGBTQ friendly. - Not having to deal with some of the Cons mentioned

Cons

Here are some phrases myself or others have said about Cover: - "Kool Aid is served in more amounts then needed" - "That team has way too many tech bros". Individuals in said team were mentioned by more than one person as being difficult to work with and a motivation to search for new opportunities. - "I thought they had enough funding for an entire year, why are they laying half of the company off during COVID". Attrition is the new normal here as every month 1 or 2 people leave and we find out on their last day. The roles are not opened for re-hiring.
